  • SportDOG SBC-10 Modes:

Progressive Correction: Uses Progressive Correction to correct your dog from barking. The correction starts at the lowest level and increases to the next level (up to 10) each time your dog barks within 30 seconds of the previous bark. If your dog does not bark again within 30 seconds, the correction will reset to the lowest level (1).

User-Selection: Manually choose the correction level. If your dog barks, the collar will correct him at the level you've selected (1-10) until he stops barking. The user-selected mode is designed to help train a stubborn dog that will bark through the lower levels of static correction. It allows you to set the proper stimulation level for your dog to stop him from barking instead of beginning at a level 1 and then increasing to the proper level.

Test Mode: You are able to test the static stimulation to ensure the unit is functioning and should be used with the provided Test Light Tool. It should not be used for training as it is not a functional mode of correction for dogs.

    Using the SBC-10 NoBark Collar:

IMPORTANT: Do not leave your dog alone the first few times he receives a static stimulation.

Place the Bark Control Collar properly on your dog and wait nearby until he barks. Most dogs will understand quickly that the Bark Control Collar is disrupting their urge to bark and will relax and stop barking. Because the static stimulation may be surprising or startling at first, some dogs may bark more at the initial correction.

On rare occasions, a dog may get into a bark-stimulation-bark-stimulation cycle. If this happens, reassure your dog with calm, soothing tones. As your dog relaxes, he will understand that if he becomes quiet, he will not receive more static stimulation. The small minority of dogs that have this reaction will likely only have it the first time they wear the Bark Control Collar.

You should notice a reduction in your dog's barking within the first couple of days that he wears the Bark Control Collar. At this point, it is important to remember the learning process is still not complete. Dogs will "test" the new learning experience and will increase their attempts to bark. This usually occurs during the second week a dog wears the Bark Control Collar. If this does occur, remain consistent and do not alter your use of the Bark Control Collar. You must place the Bark Control Collar on your dog in every situation when you expect him to be quiet. If your dog is not wearing the Bark Control Collar, he may resume barking and his learning would suffer a setback.

    Fitting the SBC-10 Correctly:

    1. Make sure the NoBark collar is off.

    2. Start with your dog standing comfortably.

    3. Place the collar high on your dog's neck close to the ears.

    4. Center the contact points underneath your dog's neck, touching the skin. It is sometimes necessary to trim the hair around the contact points to make sure that contact is consistent.

    5. Check the tightness of the NoBark by inserting one finger between the end of a contact point and your dog's neck. The fit should be snug but not constricting.

    6. Allow your dog to wear the SBC-10 for several minutes, then recheck the fit as your dog becomes more comfortable with the NoBark.

    Charging:

The SBC-10 contains a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack. When the unit indicates the battery is low (red indicator light is flashing) it is time to recharge the unit. Average battery life is 200 hours depending on how often your dog barks. However, due to greater use during your dog's training, your first battery charge may not last as long. The SBC-10 only requires a 2 hour charge. It's not harmful to let the unit charge for more than 2 hours. To conserve battery life, turn the SBC-10 off when not in use.

Before using the SBC-10 for the first time, be sure to charge the unit by following the steps described below:

    1. Align the charging cradle with the charging contacts

    2. Push down on the charging cradle until it snaps into place

    3. Insert the USB cable into the charger

    4. Plug the charger into a standard AC wall outlet

    5. Keep the SBC-10 in an open, well-ventilated area while charging to prevent overheating

    6. Charging is complete when the indicator light begins to flash green

    7. Remove the charging cradle from the SBC-10

    8. Unplug the charger from the wall outlet
